Arizona’s first Buc-ee’s travel center is now just weeks away from officially opening its doors, with the highly anticipated location scheduled to launch next month in Goodyear. The opening marks the first Buc-ee’s location in Arizona and one of the chain’s biggest expansions into the Southwest.
According to FOX 10 Phoenix, the massive travel center is expected to open in four weeks, June 22nd, generating major excitement among Arizona residents and travelers who have long waited for the Texas-based convenience store chain to arrive in the state.
The new Buc-ee’s is being built near Interstate 10 and Bullard Avenue in Goodyear, a rapidly growing area west of Phoenix that has seen major commercial and residential development in recent years. City leaders previously approved plans for the project as part of broader economic growth efforts along the I-10 corridor.
Buc-ee’s has developed a cult-like following across the United States because of its enormous travel centers, spotless restrooms, wide food selections, and massive convenience store layouts. The company is particularly famous for fresh brisket sandwiches, homemade fudge, barbecue, jerky counters, roasted nuts, pastries, and its signature Beaver Nuggets snack product.
The Arizona location is expected to follow Buc-ee’s traditional large-scale format, featuring dozens of gas pumps along with an enormous retail space packed with food stations, drinks, travel merchandise, clothing, gifts, and road trip supplies. Many Buc-ee’s stores across the country exceed 70,000 square feet in size.
Buc-ee’s also has a reputation for employing large staffs and paying higher-than-average wages compared to many traditional gas station chains. Previous company announcements tied to the Arizona project indicated the Goodyear location would create hundreds of jobs in the West Valley.
The company was founded in Texas in 1982 and has steadily expanded into additional states throughout the South and Midwest. Over the past several years, Buc-ee’s has become one of the most recognizable travel stop brands in the country, often attracting travelers who specifically plan road trips around visiting the stores.
Arizona residents have been closely tracking construction progress for months through social media groups and online discussions. The opening has generated especially strong interest among people who previously visited Buc-ee’s locations in Texas and other states.
The Goodyear store is expected to become a major stop for both local drivers and travelers moving through Arizona along Interstate 10, one of the busiest highways in the Southwest connecting Phoenix with California, New Mexico, and Texas.
City officials in Goodyear previously said the Buc-ee’s project would likely boost tourism traffic and create additional economic activity for nearby businesses and future development projects in the area.
The upcoming opening continues Buc-ee’s aggressive nationwide expansion strategy as the company pushes farther west beyond its Texas roots. New Buc-ee’s locations have recently opened or been announced in states including Colorado, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Arizona’s first Buc-ee’s opening is expected to attract large crowds during its first weeks of operation, with many fans already planning road trips to experience the new location once it officially opens next month.
