Mesa police are investigating after two people were found dead Monday morning following a welfare check in the area near Dobson and Baseline roads.
According to the Mesa Police Department, officers responded to the location on May 11 after receiving a request to conduct a welfare check. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered two deceased individuals inside the residence.
Authorities have not publicly identified the victims, and officials have released very few details regarding the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Police also have not disclosed how long the individuals may have been deceased before officers arrived at the home.
Mesa police said investigators have not found any signs of suspicious activity connected to the case at this time. In a statement, officials said “nothing suspicious has been notated” during the investigation so far.
Despite the preliminary findings, officers remained at the scene Monday as detectives continued gathering information and processing evidence. Police said the investigation remains active while authorities work to determine the exact circumstances and causes of death.
The incident occurred near the busy intersection of Dobson Road and Baseline Road in Mesa. No additional details about the home or the relationship between the two deceased individuals have been released publicly.
Officials have not announced whether autopsies will be conducted by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office, though investigators are expected to continue reviewing the situation as part of the ongoing case.
