A major fitness and lifestyle brand is expanding its footprint in Arizona, opening two new high-end athletic clubs in the Phoenix area while also signaling plans for continued growth in the region.
Life Time recently opened two new locations within days of each other, marking a significant expansion in the Valley. The first is a 91,000-square-foot facility in Paradise Valley that opened on April 30. This location is part of a larger redevelopment of the former Paradise Valley Mall site and is designed to function as more than just a gym, offering a combination of fitness, wellness, and lifestyle amenities.
Just a few days later, the company opened a second club in Gilbert called Life Time Ocotillo. This location is even larger, spanning more than 100,000 square feet and sitting on about 15 acres. It represents the ninth Life Time club in Arizona and continues the company’s push into fast-growing areas of the Phoenix metro.
Both new locations are built around the concept of “athletic country clubs,” meaning they go far beyond traditional gyms. The facilities include extensive workout spaces, fitness studios, and personal training programs, along with luxury amenities such as pools, spa services, and areas for recovery treatments. Outdoor features include resort-style pool areas, tennis courts, and pickleball courts, while indoor spaces offer advanced equipment and specialized training areas.
The Gilbert location, in particular, includes a wide range of features designed to serve both individuals and families. It offers a Kids Academy for younger members, coworking spaces, multiple pools, and wellness services such as chiropractic care and spa treatments. The club is intended to function as a community hub where people can focus on health, fitness, and overall lifestyle.
Company leaders say Arizona has been a key market for Life Time for more than two decades, and the latest expansion reflects strong demand for premium wellness experiences. The Phoenix area, in particular, has seen significant population growth, which is driving interest in high-end fitness and lifestyle facilities.
Life Time now operates more than 190 locations across North America, and the company is continuing to look for additional opportunities in the Phoenix region. The recent openings are part of a broader strategy to grow in fast-developing Sun Belt markets, where demand for integrated health, fitness, and social experiences is increasing.
Overall, the expansion highlights a shift in the fitness industry, where companies are moving beyond traditional gym models and creating more comprehensive lifestyle destinations. With two new clubs now open and more potentially on the way, Life Time is positioning itself to play a larger role in the Valley’s growing wellness and recreation landscape.
