Samsung is continuing to expand access to its One UI 8.5 beta, bringing the update to a wider range of Galaxy devices beyond its newest flagship models. After initially focusing on newer phones, the company is now rolling out the beta to older devices as well as select mid-range models, signaling a broader testing phase ahead of the final release.
The expansion includes several devices across different regions. Reports indicate that the Galaxy S23 FE has begun receiving the beta in India, while the Galaxy A35 is also gaining early access there. In South Korea, the beta is rolling out to devices such as the Galaxy A55, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Z Flip 5. Meanwhile, newer foldable models like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 are receiving updated beta versions, and the latest foldables, including the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, are already progressing to even newer beta builds.
This rollout builds on an earlier expansion that included devices like the Galaxy S24 series and Galaxy Tab S11, showing that Samsung is steadily increasing the number of supported devices over time. The company is continuing to release the beta in phases, meaning availability varies depending on the region, with some countries receiving updates before others.
One of the most notable additions in this update is expanded file-sharing functionality. Samsung is introducing a form of AirDrop-like support through its Quick Share feature, allowing easier transfers between Galaxy devices and Apple devices. While this functionality is being added into the system, full compatibility is still limited and may initially work best on newer models before reaching older devices as the beta progresses.
The update also brings improvements to Samsung’s voice assistant. A redesigned version of Bixby is included, powered by more advanced language models that allow for more natural and conversational interactions. This upgrade is intended to make it easier for users to control their devices and complete tasks without needing to navigate complex menus or settings.
Additional enhancements include expanded AI features that were first introduced on newer devices. These include tools such as improved audio editing capabilities, including features that can isolate or remove unwanted sounds, as well as contextual notifications designed to provide helpful suggestions based on user behavior.
Beyond new features, the update also focuses on refining the overall experience. Samsung is introducing visual design updates, performance improvements, and enhanced security and privacy features aimed at making devices more efficient and secure during everyday use.
Users who want to try the beta can sign up through the Samsung Members app. Once enrolled, they can register their device and download the update when it becomes available. However, access is limited and typically offered on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning not all users may be able to join immediately.
Looking ahead, Samsung is expected to release the stable version of One UI 8.5 first on its newer flagship devices, with broader availability likely to follow once testing is complete. The continued expansion of the beta suggests the company is working to gather feedback from a wide range of users and devices before finalizing the update.
