Keurig has issued a nationwide recall of select McCafé Premium Roast coffee pods after the company discovered the products may contain foreign material, according to information released by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The recall affects specific lots of 12‑count, 30‑count, and 84‑count packages of McCafé Premium Roast K‑Cup pods. The FDA reports that the pods may contain small pieces of plastic, posing a potential choking or injury risk.
No injuries have been reported, but Keurig Dr Pepper initiated the recall out of what it described as “an abundance of caution.” Consumers are urged to check the lot codes on their packages to determine whether their product is included in the recall.
Affected customers are advised to stop using the pods immediately and contact Keurig Dr Pepper for a refund or replacement. The FDA notes that retailers have been instructed to remove impacted products from store shelves.
