A 26-year-old man from Gilbert has been arrested after allegedly using his cellphone to secretly record another person showering at an EOS Fitness gym in Mesa.
The incident occurred on October 9, 2025, around 1:30 a.m., at the gym located near U.S. 60 and Greenfield Road. The victim, who was showering, heard someone enter the adjacent stall without turning on the water. Looking down, he spotted a cellphone being held under the divider, pointed directly at him and actively recording.
The victim confronted the suspect, who then handed over the phone. The victim deleted the recorded images from the device but first sent himself one of the videos—along with screenshots of the suspect’s Instagram and Apple ID—as evidence. One video reportedly captured the victim’s face as the recording began and ended.
The matter was reported to authorities as voyeurism, leading to an investigation by the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
On Thursday (prior to the article’s publication on January 23, 2026), detectives arrested the suspect at his home in Gilbert. Identified as Nathan Reese Rhoton, he admitted to officers that he had been “peeping” at the gym and recorded the victim because he was attracted to the man’s tattoos.
Rhoton faces one count of illegally recording a person. He was booked into the Maricopa County Jail with bond set at $25,000.
