Dozens of residents were evacuated early Tuesday morning after a fire broke out at a single‑story care home near 24th Street and Southern Avenue, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
Crews responded around 5:30 a.m. on Jan. 13 after receiving reports of smoke inside the facility. Firefighters arrived to find the building filling with smoke and quickly worked to extinguish the flames.
A total of 40 people were evacuated, officials said. No injuries were reported among residents or staff.
Southern Avenue was temporarily closed while fire crews worked the scene but has since reopened. Investigators have not yet determined what caused the fire.
