A seasoning product sold nationwide through Walmart stores has been voluntarily recalled because of concerns that it could potentially be contaminated with salmonella, according to federal health officials.
The recall involves certain lots of Blackstone Parmesan Ranch seasoning products distributed by Blackstone Products. The company said the recall was issued after a supplier notified them that a milk powder ingredient used in the seasoning blend may have been contaminated.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, the recalled seasoning products were sold exclusively through Walmart locations nationwide and through the Blackstone Products website. Officials said the recall affects specific lots of the 7.3-ounce Blackstone Parmesan Ranch seasoning containers.
The affected products include lot numbers 2025-43282, 2025-46172, and 2026-54751. The recalled containers also carry best-by dates of July 2, 2027, August 5, 2027, and August 12, 2027.
Health officials emphasized that no illnesses linked to the recalled seasoning products have been reported so far. Blackstone Products and the FDA said the recall is being conducted as a precautionary measure to prevent potential salmonella-related illnesses.
Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause serious foodborne illness, particularly in young children, elderly adults, and people with weakened immune systems. According to health experts, symptoms can include fever, diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea, vomiting, and dehydration. In more severe cases, salmonella infections can spread beyond the intestinal tract and become life-threatening.
The seasoning recall is part of a broader wave of recent food recalls connected to dry milk powder supplied by California Dairies, Inc. Earlier this month, the dairy company recalled certain milk powder products because of possible salmonella contamination concerns. That ingredient was later used in several food products sold nationwide, prompting additional recalls involving pizzas, snacks, pork rind seasonings, trail mixes, and other grocery items.
Federal officials said consumers who purchased the recalled Blackstone Parmesan Ranch seasoning should not consume it under any circumstances. Instead, customers are being instructed to immediately throw the seasoning away or contact the company to receive a replacement product.
Blackstone Products said customers seeking replacements or additional recall information can contact the company directly at 1-888-879-4610 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Time Monday through Friday.
Food safety experts say salmonella outbreaks remain one of the most common causes of foodborne illness in the United States. Most people recover within several days without medical treatment, but serious infections can lead to hospitalization, especially among vulnerable populations.
The FDA continues monitoring the recall while working alongside manufacturers and suppliers involved in the contaminated milk powder supply chain. Additional recalls involving products containing the same ingredient could still be announced if more potentially affected items are identified.
