Families in Tucson will have an opportunity to celebrate Mother’s Day with a special outing at Reid Park Zoo, where moms can receive free admission for the holiday.
Zoo officials announced that mothers will receive complimentary daytime admission on Mother’s Day when accompanied by a paying child or adult guest. The event is designed to give families a relaxing and memorable way to spend time together while exploring the zoo’s exhibits and animal attractions.
The Mother’s Day celebration is scheduled to take place Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tucson zoo. Organizers say guests will be able to enjoy a variety of animal presentations, keeper chats, and opportunities to learn about some of the zoo’s animal mothers and how they care for their young.
Among the featured activities are special keeper talks throughout the day. Visitors can stop by the South America interpretive space to see a tamandua presentation, hear about elephant matriarch Semba and her leadership role within the herd, and visit the South America aviary to learn about nesting behaviors at the zoo. Another featured talk later in the afternoon focuses on giraffe mom Penny and her first year raising her calf.
Zoo officials also encouraged families to enjoy lunch at the Flamingo Grill during their visit and spend time exploring the zoo grounds together. Guests can additionally visit the Discover the Wild gift shop, which offers jewelry, clothing, souvenirs, and environmentally friendly gift items.
The zoo noted that the Mother’s Day celebration provides families a chance to unwind while learning more about wildlife conservation and animal care. Staff members will also share educational information about how zoo teams support animal families and provide enrichment activities for the animals living at the facility.
Reid Park Zoo is open daily and features more than 400 animals from around the world. The zoo includes giraffe encounters, animal presentations, carousel rides, train rides, and educational experiences for visitors of all ages
