Costco shoppers have a new dessert to look out for, as the warehouse retailer rolls out a limited-time Caramel Churro Sundae to its food court menu, offering a fresh twist on its popular soft-serve treats.
The new item builds on Costco’s long-standing reputation for affordable food court favorites, which include staples like its well-known $1.50 hot dog combo, pizza slices, and chicken bake. Dessert has always been a major part of that experience, with soft serve ice cream remaining one of the most popular options. Typically, customers can order a simple cup of soft serve or upgrade it into a sundae with chocolate or strawberry toppings for a small additional cost.
As part of its rotating menu of seasonal desserts, Costco regularly introduces limited-time flavors and specialty sundaes. Earlier in the year, the food court featured a Double Chocolate Mint Sundae, which included a mint-flavored soft serve base. That item has now been replaced by the newly introduced Caramel Churro Sundae, continuing the company’s pattern of refreshing its dessert lineup.
The Caramel Churro Sundae is a simple but indulgent combination. It features a base of soft serve ice cream topped with salted caramel sauce and crispy churro bites. Customers are not limited to just one flavor, as the sundae can be ordered with vanilla soft serve, chocolate soft serve, or a swirl of both.
The churro pieces are a defining part of the dessert, coated in cinnamon sugar and described by early reviewers as having a texture similar to cookie dough chunks or even cheesecake crust. These bites bring a strong cinnamon and brown sugar flavor that blends with the sweetness of the caramel and ice cream.
Initial reactions from customers have been largely positive, though some have noted that the dessert is very sweet and may be better shared rather than eaten alone. One reviewer, content creator Yutack Kang, praised the sundae highly, giving it a perfect score and highlighting how well the cinnamon and brown sugar flavors come through in each bite.
The new sundae is priced at $2.99, keeping it in line with Costco’s reputation for offering generous portions at a low cost. Like other seasonal items at the food court, it is not expected to be permanent and will only be available for a limited time.
The rollout is happening gradually across Costco locations in the United States, meaning some stores may already have it available while others have yet to receive it. Shoppers are encouraged to keep an eye on their local food court menu if they want to try it before it disappears.
