HonorHealth, one of Arizona’s largest nonprofit healthcare systems based in the Phoenix area, is moving forward with acquiring several primary care clinics from Evernorth Care Group, which is part of Cigna HealthCare of Arizona. The agreement, announced in 2025, is expected to be finalized in January 2026 after all necessary legal and regulatory steps are completed. This transition is aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare services for people across the Valley.
Evernorth Care Group has operated integrated primary care clinics in the Phoenix metropolitan region for more than 50 years and currently serves nearly 80,000 patients. Under the terms of the deal, 11 of these existing Evernorth locations have now officially become part of the HonorHealth network, increasing the number of care access points available to the community.
HonorHealth’s system already includes nine acute-care hospitals, a broad network of specialty and urgent care centers, and community-based health services. Leaders from both organizations say the acquisition will make it easier for patients to receive seamless, coordinated care at more convenient locations throughout the area.
Todd LaPorte, CEO of HonorHealth, has emphasized that bringing the Evernorth clinics into HonorHealth’s network supports the system’s mission to improve overall health and wellness by offering care where and when people need it most. With the addition of the Evernorth sites, HonorHealth’s primary care footprint and ability to connect patients with broader health resources are expected to grow.
Matt Totterdale, president of Evernorth Care Group, also spoke on the transition, expressing confidence that HonorHealth is the right partner to continue the clinics’ legacy of quality care. Both organizations are working to ensure the shift for patients and staff is as smooth as possible while maintaining the level of service patients are accustomed to.
As part of the transition, patients may experience temporary closures at some clinics as they shift to HonorHealth’s systems and operations. HonorHealth has provided information and resources to help patients find care during this period and has encouraged them to connect with care teams through its MyChart patient portal.
