A 22-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder following a deadly single-vehicle crash in Mesa, Arizona, that claimed the life of a female passenger.
The incident occurred just before 7:30 a.m. on August 30, 2025, near the intersection of Val Vista Drive and Broadway Road. Police responded to find an SUV that had crashed into a brick wall. The driver, identified as Isaiah Torres, sustained serious injuries, while the woman in the vehicle was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her identity has not been released by authorities.
The crash also caused property damage, with bricks from the wall flying into nearby homes. Fortunately, no residents inside those homes were injured.
After a thorough DUI investigation by the Mesa Police Department, investigators established probable cause to charge Torres. He was arrested on December 16, 2025, and booked on charges of second-degree murder and criminal damage.
